“The impact you have on the world is greater than you could ever imagine, and the choices you make affect the whole.” -Madison Taylor
There is a passage I have read often to my students at Lotus Yoga and Fitness called “The Ripple Effect”. It explains how we have the ability to make a change in the lives of others as well as in our own lives. We sometimes think that in order to make a big transformation that there has to be an extreme action. But I believe the opposite is true. I believe that small changes in our daily life has a bigger effect on ourselves and on the world as a whole.
Every thought, word, or action effects ourselves as well as every person around us. So just imagine the power you have then in your thoughts, words and actions! Imagine you are a pebble dropped in the water, and your ripple spreads outward as far as it will go…..What does that mean in “real” life? It means that YOUR thoughts, words and actions ARE the ripples. You can do a good deed, smile at a stranger, give of your time, speak kindly to someone, or give someone a compliment, and maybe the recipients of your actions will then do the same to someone else…….you have created a ripple of positive energy! If you do these same things for your SELF, you create this ripple effect within your self as well. Do you consistently talk negatively to yourself? If so, what if you only spoke positively to yourself, believed in yourself, didn’t allow negative energy or drama into your life, or complimented your self DAILY? These actions toward your self could then change your whole being!
Every change in the world starts with one point of origin…..a person, an action, or an idea, just like a ripple starts with one pebble dropped into the water.
If you want change, it has to begin with you.
How can YOU change the world? It’s simple: BE THE RIPPLE.
