I can’t believe that Lotus Yoga and Fitness has been open for over two months already! It has been a whirlwind ride for me since November when Karrie decided to sell the studio to me. I am grateful every day for this opportunity to share my knowledge, my journey and my love of yoga with all of you. I am grateful for all of the members who stayed through the transition, and for the new members who have joined our yoga family. YOU are all why I am passionate about what I do. My Yoga and meditation practices have had a profound effect on my life physically, mentally and spiritually. As an ex- competitive runner, triathlete, and personal trainer, I spent MANY years putting a lot of stress on my body and spirit. My journey with yoga over the last 8 years has taught me to be mindful of and compassionate to my body and its limitations. I have learned to back off when needed, to rest, and to simply sit and breathe. It is truly amazing what we learn when sitting in silence. This is where we learn the most about ourselves. We all need to slow down, spend time with our loved ones, and take time every day to nurture our spirit. I love teaching others about what I have learned, so thank you for allowing me to share my practice with you.
I truly believe that it is a necessity to give back to others and to our community, either through volunteer work, financial support or mentoring. One of the missions that my husband and I are so passionate about is giving back to our community. We both serve on the Board of Directors for Family Renew Community (which my husband is now President of) and I have been on the board of COPE- The Community Outreach for the Prevention of Eating Disorders for several years. My husband and I have given countless hours of our time, supported organizations financially, and have mentored others in need. Lotus Yoga and Fitness is currently, and will continue to be, another avenue where I plan to give back through “Lotus Yoga and Fitness for Charity”. Since we opened in December, we have had a Karma Yoga class benefitting COPE. We supported Father Lopez Catholic High School by giving 10% of sales every Monday in February to help fund their Student’s Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic, and we will be supporting the Junior League’s Diaper Bank by giving 10% of sales every Monday in March to the Junior League and will be collecting Diapers for families in need. We have also sponsored two races, The Tomoka Brave 5K which benefitted the Tomoka Elementary PTA, and the upcoming Tomoka Marathon, as well as the Seabreeze American Musical Theater’s production of “Anything Goes”. I believe in giving back to those in need, the arts, and the schools. THEY are the backbone of our community and it is my mission to help where I can. I have been blessed in my life and will always feel the need to give back.
We have several Workshops coming up in March and April and I invite you to participate in them to deepen your practice and increase your knowledge of how Yoga can improve your life. Please let me know what other workshops you would like to see at Lotus Yoga and Fitness and I will do my best to make it happen!
THANK YOU for supporting my AMAZING instructors, and me and for allowing us to teach you about being your BEST you.
LIVE LIFE INSPIRED.
